Code CP_w004 was reported by the “Charge port” controller in the car. The letter “w” in the middle places it among entries of the warning type.
The car's charge port — latch, connector lock, indicator light and proximity sensor. These codes typically appear when the connector will not lock or the car does not register that it is plugged in.
The car is flagging that something is not right. Driving is usually still possible, but some function may be limited.
This is how the fault is named inside the car's firmware. For codes without a description it is the most precise clue there is — the name itself says what the event is about.

This alert is currently used for GB (Guobiao standard - Chinese) charge ports on Model S / X vehicles and PLCRLY electronic control units (ECU) in EU Model S / X vehicles.
The alert means the proximity voltage is outside of expected range. These are the expected ranges on vehicles with a GB charge port, the AC portion of the charge port, and the IEC type 2 charge ports:4.291V to 4.620V - No cable in the GB AC charge port.
4.280V to 4.291V - GB cable in the GB AC charge port, and the button is being held down, meaning the connector is unlatched.3.525V to 3.892V - 10A GB cable in the GB AC charge port.
2.995V to 3.275V - 16A GB cable in the GB AC charge port.1.740V to 2.035V - 32A GB cable in the GB AC charge port.1.020V to 1.220V - 63A GB cable in the GB AC charge port.
These are the limits for the DC portion of the GB charge port:

4.5V to 5.5V - No cable in the GB DC charge port.2.0V to 3.0V - Cable connected to the GB DC charge port.For pin CC1:0.0V to 0.5V - No cable in the GB DC charge port.5.5V to 6.5V - Cable connected to the GB DC charge port.3.5V to 4.5V - Cable latched to the GB DC charge port.
Any voltage outside any of these voltage regions will cause a proximityRationality alert and prevent charging.
Copy it exactly, letter and number included. Photographing the screen is safest — codes often differ by a single digit, and mixing them up leads somewhere else entirely.
Some codes clear after a screen restart or after the car sits locked for a few hours. If the code does not come back, it was usually a one-off glitch.
A one-off entry and a code that appears after every drive are two different things. It helps a service centre enormously if you know exactly when it shows up.
With airbags, brakes, steering and high voltage there is no point waiting it out. With the other groups you can watch and see whether the code returns at all.
