What code UI_a095 means

The application layer of the touchscreen. Most codes from here are everyday notices the car shows the driver — an open frunk, a door left ajar, a status message about some feature. They are not hardware faults.

Severity — a

The most common type. The car logged the event and may have shown it on the screen. The range is wide — from something trivial that clears itself to something that needs attention.

Internal alert name

This is how the fault is named inside the car's firmware. For codes without a description it is the most precise clue there is — the name itself says what the event is about.

Mediálna jednotka Tesly má vlastnú pamäť a ukladá si do nej mapy, protokoly, dáta z kamier, hlasové modely a množstvo ďalšieho.

Was tun: nichts.

Jednostka multimedialna Tesli ma własną pamięć i zapisuje w niej mapy, dzienniki, dane z kamer, modele głosowe i mnóstwo innych rzeczy. Dotyczy Modelu S 2012–2020 i Modelu X 2015–2020.

This code is interesting mainly for what Tesla itself wrote about it: it is not used any more. What the code meant: storage space on the main screen was running low. A Tesla's media unit has its own memory and stores maps, logs, camera data, voice models and a great deal else in it. When it filled up, the car flagged it. Why it fell out of use: Tesla's service description carries a single sentence about it — the low disk space alert is not used any more. No explanation is given, but it makes sense: newer cars have substantially larger storage, and the software manages space itself without bothering the driver with it. What to take from that: if you see this code in a service log, it is very likely a leftover from an older firmware version rather than a current state. Much like EFUSE_w129, an entry that stayed in the catalogue although it has nothing left to report. When storage is worth attention: when the screen is sluggish, freezes, apps crash, or an update will not download. Those are symptoms where full storage can be the cause — and they are addressed with a screen restart, or at a service centre. What to do: nothing. The code itself requires no action. Applies to Model S 2012–2020 and Model X 2015–2020.

Anything specific helps: the circumstances in which the code appeared, whether it cleared itself, what the service centre said, what was replaced and roughly what it cost.

What to do about it

01

Write down the whole code

Copy it exactly, letter and number included. Photographing the screen is safest — codes often differ by a single digit, and mixing them up leads somewhere else entirely.

02

Try letting the car sleep and wake

Some codes clear after a screen restart or after the car sits locked for a few hours. If the code does not come back, it was usually a one-off glitch.

03

Watch whether it repeats

A one-off entry and a code that appears after every drive are two different things. It helps a service centre enormously if you know exactly when it shows up.

04

Do not wait on safety systems

With airbags, brakes, steering and high voltage there is no point waiting it out. With the other groups you can watch and see whether the code returns at all.

Before you act on a code. This page is a reference dictionary, not a repair manual. It explains what an abbreviation means and what it relates to — it does not diagnose your car. The same code can have different causes, and its meaning also shifts between firmware versions. For anything involving brakes, steering, airbags or high voltage, go straight to a service centre.
