What code VCSEC_a273 means

Vehicle Controller Security — vehicle security, the alarm, key fobs, phone-as-key over Bluetooth and pairing the tyre pressure sensors. These codes often appear after changing a key, a wheel or a battery.

Severity — a

The most common type. The car logged the event and may have shown it on the screen. The range is wide — from something trivial that clears itself to something that needs attention.

Internal alert name

This is how the fault is named inside the car's firmware. For codes without a description it is the most precise clue there is — the name itself says what the event is about.

Description from the service documentation

The text below comes from Tesla's technical documentation. We leave it in the original English so that translation cannot shift its meaning.

Rear right sensor reports pressure under 25psi

Rear right sensor reports pressure greater than 30psi

Hlásí ho Cybertruck a Model 3.

Zgłaszają go Cybertruck i Model 3.

This code is a hard tyre pressure warning for the rear right wheel — and the difference from a soft warning is fundamental. What happened: the sensor in the rear right wheel reports a pressure below 25 psi, roughly 1.7 bar. Tesla's description puts it without decoration: the tyre may be flat. Why this differs from a soft warning: a soft warning means an underinflated tyre that needs air. A hard warning means a pressure so low the tyre is no longer doing its job. Below that threshold the sidewall flexes, the tyre overheats, and it risks coming off the rim. Driving in that state is not uncomfortable, it is dangerous. What to do immediately: leave the traffic lane and stop somewhere safe. Do not drive it home and do not try to reach a tyre shop on the far side of town. Look at the wheel — with a hard warning the damage is usually visible or audible. Why a rear wheel in particular: a flat rear tyre is harder to notice while driving than a front one, because the car does not pull at the wheel as much. That makes it all the easier to keep going and destroy the tyre completely. When the message clears: once the sensor reports more than 30 psi, roughly 2.1 bar. So inflating to the value on the door frame sticker is enough. What to do: inflate and find the cause. A pressure that falls that far did not fall through ageing — something is leaking. Reported by Cybertruck and Model 3.

What to do about it

01

Write down the whole code

Copy it exactly, letter and number included. Photographing the screen is safest — codes often differ by a single digit, and mixing them up leads somewhere else entirely.

02

Try letting the car sleep and wake

Some codes clear after a screen restart or after the car sits locked for a few hours. If the code does not come back, it was usually a one-off glitch.

03

Watch whether it repeats

A one-off entry and a code that appears after every drive are two different things. It helps a service centre enormously if you know exactly when it shows up.

04

Do not wait on safety systems

With airbags, brakes, steering and high voltage there is no point waiting it out. With the other groups you can watch and see whether the code returns at all.

Before you act on a code. This page is a reference dictionary, not a repair manual. It explains what an abbreviation means and what it relates to — it does not diagnose your car. The same code can have different causes, and its meaning also shifts between firmware versions. For anything involving brakes, steering, airbags or high voltage, go straight to a service centre.
