What code VCFRONT_a192 means

Vehicle Controller Front — the front body controller. It handles the 12 V supply, the frunk, lights, wipers, pumps and cooling valves. One of the most frequently reported groups, because 12 V battery problems land here too.

Severity — a

The most common type. The car logged the event and may have shown it on the screen. The range is wide — from something trivial that clears itself to something that needs attention.

Internal alert name

This is how the fault is named inside the car's firmware. For codes without a description it is the most precise clue there is — the name itself says what the event is about.

VCFRONT_a192_criticalLoadShed

We do not have a detailed description for this code yet

Tesla only publishes descriptions for some codes. What we do know for certain is its classification and the internal name above — and from those you can reliably tell which part of the car it concerns.

Na displeji se objeví „Electrical system is unable to support all features“ a vůz začne postupně vypínat, co nezbytně nepotřebuje. Proč to Tesla dělá: dvanáctka drží při životě řízení, brzdy a stykače vysokého napětí. Kdyby se vybila úplně, vůz se zastaví a už se nerozjede. Patří to do servisu, a to hned. Hlásí ho Cybertruck, Model 3, Model S a X od 2021 a Model Y.

Na displeji sa objaví „Electrical system is unable to support all features“ a vozidlo začne postupne vypínať, čo nevyhnutne nepotrebuje. Čo to znamená v praxi: máte obmedzený čas.

Sprawa do serwisu, i to natychmiast. Zgłaszają go Cybertruck, Model 3, Model S i X od 2021 oraz Model Y.

The screen shows “Electrical system is unable to support all features” and the car starts progressively switching off whatever it does not strictly need. What happened: the 12-volt battery is no longer being charged from the high-voltage system. The car therefore starts shedding loads to last as long as possible on what remains in the battery. Exactly what that looks like depends on which 12-volt battery the car has. On older cars with a lead-acid battery the comforts go — seat heaters, sockets, climate control. On newer ones with a lithium battery the car goes further and cuts everything non-essential, keeping power only for critical functions. Why Tesla does this: the 12-volt system keeps the steering, the brakes and the high-voltage contactors alive. If it went flat completely, the car would stop and not restart. A disabled seat heater is a cheaper price than being stranded. What it means in practice: you have limited time. The code clears only once the 12-volt battery is being charged again, which means once whatever is blocking that charging is fixed. What to do: drive to the nearest safe place and do not plan beyond it. Do not stop somewhere nobody can recover you from. The most common cause lies in the converter that feeds the 12-volt system, or in the battery itself. This belongs in service, and promptly. Reported by Cybertruck, Model 3, Model S and X from 2021, and Model Y.

What to do about it

01

Write down the whole code

Copy it exactly, letter and number included. Photographing the screen is safest — codes often differ by a single digit, and mixing them up leads somewhere else entirely.

02

Try letting the car sleep and wake

Some codes clear after a screen restart or after the car sits locked for a few hours. If the code does not come back, it was usually a one-off glitch.

03

Watch whether it repeats

A one-off entry and a code that appears after every drive are two different things. It helps a service centre enormously if you know exactly when it shows up.

04

Do not wait on safety systems

With airbags, brakes, steering and high voltage there is no point waiting it out. With the other groups you can watch and see whether the code returns at all.

Before you act on a code. This page is a reference dictionary, not a repair manual. It explains what an abbreviation means and what it relates to — it does not diagnose your car. The same code can have different causes, and its meaning also shifts between firmware versions. For anything involving brakes, steering, airbags or high voltage, go straight to a service centre.
